Sketch On Sunday

Hey guys!
Here is your #sketchonsunday for today!
This is a self portrait done in Photoshop.

Time: about 5 hours

Pros: I really like how the hair, shadows, and skin tones turned out, i also like the background aspect of this piece. In the past I hadn't done full on backgrounds, they were just white... or something boring. So, yeah.  I also have done some previous work with butterflies in them. This is a symbol I would like to continue including in various work because it represents a very important topic to me ( I will include this in another post)

Cons: I think I might add more detail to the shirt later, And I'm not sure about the green in the skin because it looks a bit zombified, but I dunno it's kind of morbidly awesome too. It Also bothers me that this isn't completely centered... OCD!!!

Behind the Scenes

Hello friends,

I decided to make a small video of a few "behind the scenes" clips I took during the New Years photoshoot with Katiey Wilson. It is my first little video/audio production I have put out online, and also my first YouTube video. So let me know what you think!

I believe "behind the scenes" videos and photos are what intrigue people to want to know more about an artist. A lot of the time, people have no idea what goes into working as a model or photographer, artist, etc. It is HARD work! All creative individuals have their own unique process, and I think that is the MOST interesting thing about an artist.

A Touch of Joy

Here is a new digital painting I have been working on. I started it Sunday evening and still am adding little details here and there. The nice thing about digital work, is you can always go back in the layers and change things here and there. I guess it can be a bad thing if you are a perfectionist like me... but oh well. :/

Over the weekend Kyson and I went and saw the new movie "Split". It was awesome and I will never see Mr. Tumnus the same again. But this beaut' stuck out with her unique elvish looks.

The Title is "A Touch of "Joy"'. After Actress Anya Taylor Joy.  The crying is just completely random, but the flower is a symbol from the movie, so go see it and you will completely understand. ;)

Hope you like it!

Essential Oils Diffuser

This year for one of my Christmas gifts Kyson bought me a set of Radha essential oils and a Vic Tsing diffuser.  This gift is going to be used SOOOO much. I can't even express the joy i have for diffusers and humidifiers.
Ever since I was little I have had a lot of sinus issues due to my small nasal passages and eustachian tubes (the ones that connect ear, nose, and throat).  Because of this, my sleeping tends to not be the greatest, and wakes Kyson up to Grandpa-level snoring... yeah it's embarrassing. I usually just coat my nose with a crap ton of Vick's vapor rub and hope all goes well, but this takes it to another level.
Not only does the diffuser mist out any essential oil scent I want, but it also purifies and humidifies the air, leaving a sleeping Amilee happier than ever.

  • It lights up- anything that has cool interchangeable neon lights is an A+ in my book.
  • It purifies the air along with humidifying it. I have shedding cats, so yeah... I need this.
  • Its super quiet and helps with sleep
  • It has running time options, or runs until the water runs out and then automatically turns off which ensures a safe use.
  • It looks like a wooden onion. Okay this isn't really a con though. I love the modern minimalist look.
  • Makes me wish I was a professional Yogi. ๐Ÿ™

So far my favorites of the oils are the eucalyptus, lavender, and tea tree. These are the ones I use the most for sleep, acne, and energy. I highly recommend using essential oils for health and beauty purposes as they are a completely natural alternative to medications and other chemicals that are added to many products. Oils are also much better for your skin than benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid and work to kill the bacteria without causing redness or irritation.  Make sure you test any oils on a small patch of skin, and dilute them with a carrier oil or water before using!

The Year of 2017

2016 was the year of realization. I realized that doing the things that you are passionate about, that make you feel happy and fulfilled is so important. There will always be material things, but memories and passions last forever. I quit my day job I've had for over a year now, and I can't express the feelings of relief that came over me the moment I had the courage to put in my two weeks. It's been a journey 2016. But I think I have my heart set on you 2017.

I'm excited for the new adventures, the creativity and arts. The music... oh the music. So far I have written many songs and haven't even had even the chance to work with them, but I have been taking production lessons with SunnyBrook Productions and It's going really well so far. (Shout out to Brook for helping make my dreams a reality๐Ÿ’•) Most likely I will be playing live shows and uploading some content soon; I will let you guys know when that happens so stay tuned!

To start off the new year here is a photoshoot I did with the gorgeous Katiey Wilson. Go check her out her modeling page here

Sketch On Sunday #2

These are two side profile portraits I did a couple of weeks ago. #sketchonsunday
The first one is of the Utah instafamous Zoe Lazerson. If you live in the Orem/ Provo area or have been on instagram I'm sure you have heard or seen her at some point in the last few years. Her instagram is swoon worthy! The second drawing is of Layne Putnam. She is the frontgirl and singer of the band Layne. I discovered Layne as one of the openers at the last K.Flay Crush Me tour. I love the dark, heavy sound of their synths and the pop-like vocals in their music. I'm so excited to hear more for the new year.๐Ÿ‘‚

Things I liked about these drawings: The unfinished look, practice with blonde hair (cuz usually I choose to draw darker hair), and the silhouette profile look.

What I could work on: the realistic effect got kind of tedious. I would like to work more on stretching the time of my drawings out, that way I am not rushing to finish them.
